Prayer for the Campaign
Eternal Father, author of all that is good, true, and beautiful.
As your community of faith, we seek to love and honour you. We stand before you, preparing to build our new cathedral and churches as places to gather and worship you.
Inspire those charged with the task of planning and building our new churches. Help them to make sound decisions that allow the faith to flourish in our diocese.
May our churches be places of welcome, of worship and of witness.
Grant us wisdom to discern how our time, our talent and our treasure can be offered to this sacred undertaking. Fill us with a spirit of generosity, aware that in giving, we also receive.
Bless our efforts, which are directed towards making you known more deeply in our diocese and in our world.

The Spirituality of Giving
Within each person, there is a spirit of goodness and generosity. The desire to help other people is innate, and many people are regularly searching for ways in which they can live out that generosity.
For Catholics – and people of many other faith traditions – there is a healthy tendency to consider generosity through the eyes of someone who has been blessed by God. They have been given talents that they can use to serve others and to honour God. For some people, they offer time and skills to support worthy projects. For others, it might take on the face of financial support.
We see Jesus making this invitation in the Gospels in various parables, and we see through our Christian tradition how people at all times and places have shared of themselves.
The Church invites people to not just think about financial giving, but to pray about it, to prayerfully discern what constitutes a generous contribution according to one’s own circumstances.
For this project, there will be opportunities to offer small contributions regularly over many years. We will also be asking some people to consider significant contributions if they are able. Through your support, we will help ensure that our new cathedral is a place where all are welcome, where God is worshipped and from where people go out on mission.
With God at the centre of our project and at the centre of your discernment, we can together bear fruit that will enable the spread of the Gospel on our diocese.
